As the liturgical year of Advent approaches, consider joining us at Angela's Villa to start Advent with other faith-oriented people who desire to nurture their prayer life. By coming together, we encourage each other to be attentive, to wake up to God's presence within us and among us. Christians everywhere mark these four weeks before Christmas as intentional times of prayer and reflection. Here are three events we’re planning:
- Sunday, December 4 at 5 p.m., college students will welcome high school seniors to Angela's Villa for an “Advent Social.” Following a time of prayer and reflection, we’ll share pizza and connect with each other.
- Monday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a gathering of young adults in their 30s and 40s. We’ll get to know each other and share our hopes for our Advent journey this year. A social with pizza will follow.
- Tuesday, December 6, at 7 p.m., we’ll gather to pray for and with our Vocation Ambassador, Kelly Dahman, Kelly is scheduled for surgery and we want to support her with our love and prayer.
Angela’s Villa is located at 3937 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, 44511.
Please R.S.V.P. to me as soon as possible so we can plan the refreshments. You can call or text me at 330-261-4729.
In his preface to Prayer Our Deepest Longing, contemporary spirituality author Fr. Ron Rolheiser writes:
"There is no bad way to pray and there is no one starting point for prayer. All the great spiritual masters offer only one non-negotiable rule: You have to show up for prayer and you have to show up regularly. Everything else is negotiable and respects your unique circumstances".
