June not only marks the official start of summer, but also the second official summer of gatherings at Angela’s Villa (fully renovated!).
We’ve seen so many amazing souls come through the house, filling it with faith, laughter and friendship. Sadly, we’ve also sent off volunteers, mentors and friends to new careers. Excitedly, we’ve welcomed new souls not only to the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown ministries but also to the house.
In sharing meals, holidays, meetings and sleepovers at Angela’s Villa, I’ve learned that the best part of coming to the house is how I feel when I leave. Whether I spend time laughing at stories or sharing my concerns, I always seem to leave the house a little lighter and brighter. This would not be possible if it weren’t for the incredible people filling the house and Ursuline ministries with attentive ears and warm smiles.
Not everyone is so lucky to find a place like Angela’s where they feel comfortable and welcomed. Uneasiness is an emotion I sometimes encounter in myself and when I tutor young students through the Summer Service Learning Program. “Will I be good enough?” “I can’t do it.” “I’m not smart enough.”
Summer is a season to hopefully relax and take time to regroup and reflect on these thoughts. For my regrouping process, I am thankful I have a place like Angela’s Villa and all of the people who are part of it.
If you have the time, stop by the house for some food, friendship and relaxation! You’ll be glad you did.
