On July 26, volunteers and supporters of the Summer Service Learning Program gathered at Angela’s Villa to celebrate the joys of our ministry volunteer experience with a party. The volunteers took turns sharing our favorite memories. Everyone in the room could relate to hilarious and heartwarming times.
During our prayer of gratitude, I looked around and felt grateful not only for the opportunity to be a part of an incredibly fun service program, but also to get to know so many wonderful people. It was exciting to see returning and new volunteers sharing their experiences.
As most of the guests left, the young adults and volunteers sat downstairs and talked. A few ‘veterans’ of Angela’s shared our stories of the house’s first days and gatherings. It was like we were passing along a tradition, sharing our history with the new members.
New memories were made that night as we laughed about neighborhood events, possible volleyball plans, and chit-chatted about our lives. Summer Service 2018 impacted everyone in unexpected ways.
As we look forward to next year, I can only hope we make more special memories and deeper friendships through our service with the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown ministries.
