Angela's Villa was dedicated as a young adult gathering space in August 2016. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown had been donated a house on Youngstown's west side. Since we needed a place for our growing group of high school, college and young adult volunteers to have as a hub, the house soon became their home.
Over the last four years, women and men who volunteer with Ursuline Ministries have found a place for community -- for socials and faith sharing, and a quiet place to study.
The original team who cleaned, painted and much more included Peggy, Joan, Kristen, Jenne, Stephanie, Maryann and Kelly. Marta and Janie became part of our group soon after.
Sept. 27 we held a small outdoor brunch reunion in the backyard. Everyone was excited to see each other and share updates.
We celebrated Kristen's progress and good health while battling leukemia.
We also named our positive experiences during the pandemic. The reflection "Autumn - A Time of Fullness" by Joyce Rupp expressed our gratitude for the opportunity to be together.
While we have a wonderful group, we are always open to welcoming new volunteers/members. We'll gather for brunch with reflection the 4th Sunday of each month at 10 a.m., both in person with masks and physical distancing, as well as through Zoom.
