I've been participating in an Anti-racism collaborative committee over the past few months. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown and the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, along with both of our Associates and their Covenant Members, have been studying with members of A.C.T.I.O.N. of Youngstown in the area of racial justice.
Our questions and concerns and desire to change led us to seek educational opportunities with the intention of moving to action.
Sister Patricia Chappelle, SNDdeN and Sister Anne-Louise Nadeau, SNDdeN have been working for transformational change for the past 20 years. Their presentation in Part I about Systemic Racism and White Privilege helped us to recognize how racism is imbedded in our societal structures.
With our eyes more open to name and understand, we also have the responsibility to do something about it.
Anti-Racism at the Crossroads Part II is a two-day training that includes further education but focuses on formulating an action. The workshop will be April 30 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday May 1 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The program is being hosted entirely via Zoom.
Please consider joining us. To register for the program, please contact Sr. Mary Stanco, HM at [email protected] or visit www.actionoh.com.

Like many of you, I want to grow in solidarity with my African-American brothers and sisters, feel their pain and be moved to work for change.
