I was deeply moved by my participation in the “Peaceful March For Justice” in downtown Youngstown, Ohio, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 31. Melissa Dahman, one of our young adult volunteers and vice president of Washington, D.C. College Dems, and I were among those who marched.
I felt honored to be among such a respectful, somber, orderly crowd of mostly young adults. Derrick McDowell and Sonya Lenoir opened the protest and modeled the behavior that they expected from all of us.
I am renewed in my desire to make a difference. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown and many of our Ursuline Associates belong to ACTION, a local faith-based organizing group. Ursuline Associates, Dan Eicher and Shelia Tripplet, as well as Ann York, a Humility of Mary Associate, serve with others on the Diversity Committee of ACTION.
Along with Vickie Vicars, lead organizer, they have prepared a Virtual Zoom “Attacking Covid19 – “Conversation on Racial Insecurities.” Please consider joining us Thurs., June 4, 6-7:30 p.m. Preregistration is required:
