The summer of 2019 will be one to remember for many of those who have or are new to volunteering with the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown ministries. I’ve volunteered with the Sisters since 2015 and this year I have seen the most new volunteers join us -- which is incredible!
Each time I came to volunteer and help out, there was a new face I didn’t recognize. After all the Sisters have helped me achieve, I am so thrilled to see more people joining our community. It will give them so many more opportunities in the future!
On Sunday, July 14, many of the volunteers gathered for our monthly brunch. We had my favorite egg casserole. One of my personal friends I met through the Sisters, Stephanie, taught me how to make her specialty French toast. It's always fun to see all those I used to volunteer with as well!
It’s refreshing, too, to share old stories with the new volunteers and explain our mission and hope for the Immigrant Outreach ministry. As I move on to my second year of college and out of state, seeing what the future holds and who will be there when I leave to carry on that mission makes the move so much easier.
I can say with full confidence that the new volunteers are truly incredible and will make the ministry all that much better with their individual strengths. Our little, or maybe it should be considered big now, community that we’ve built will continue to grow stronger each year.
I was blessed to be a part of it at the start, when we renovated and began Angela’s Villa, and I will continue to do everything I can to help it progress.
