On July 10, the newest Core Group met for the first time to plan changes and events at Angela’s Villa. The Core Group makes plans and oversees events at the Young Adult house. Our new group consists of some returning members as well as some new members (not so new to Angela’s, though!). The core group members are Melissa Dahman, Montana Gessler, Marta Hergenrother, Stephanie Zapka and me. For those of you who don’t know these awesome ladies, here’s a little bit about each.
Melissa is a senior at Canfield High School and this is her second year serving on the core group. Melissa has been serving with Ursuline Sisters' ministries for two years and works at the Motherhouse front desk. At Canfield High, she is the President of the Student Council and is a member of the drumline, choir, and drama club. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, painting and making music.
Montana is a junior at YSU majoring in Industrial Engineering and interning as an industrial engineer at Treeman Industries, Boardman. This is her first year serving on the Core Group, but she’s been serving the Ursuline Ministries for almost two years. At school Montana is a member of the Honor’s College and the STEM Leadership Society. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and reading.
Marta is a sophomore at YSU studying Psychology and works as a Respite Care Provider as well as at the Motherhouse front desk. This is also her first year serving on the Core Group. She’s been serving the Ursuline Ministries for almost three years. At school, Marta is a member of the Honor’s College, PAYO (Poverty Awareness in Youngstown), and the Pen Pal Club. She is secretly most proud of her ability to sing all the High School Musical songs by memory.
Stephanie works as the resident service coordinator for Trumbull Metro Housing and has been serving the Ursuline Ministries for five years. This is her second year serving on the core group. Stephanie graduated from YSU with a degree in Education and from Cincinnati University with a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Stephanie also is an Ursuline Associate, and in her free time, is an intense video gamer.
I work as the Child Advocate for the Ursuline Sister’s HIV/AIDS Ministry and as the Ursuline Sisters Vocation Ambassador. I’ve been serving with various Ursuline Sisters’ ministries for three years. This is my second year serving on the Core Group. I graduated from YSU with a degree in Early Childhood Education and am now attending Walsh University for a Master of Science degree in Education: Reading Literacy. I also serve as an Ursuline Associate. In my free time, I enjoy painting canvasses, scrapbooking and playing ukulele.
I am so excited for the great ideas generated by these ladies at our meeting and can’t wait to share the plans with all the young adults serving in Ursuline Sisters’ ministries! Stay informed of upcoming events on our various social media pages (and like/follow if you haven’t already!).
